Sick of the Orange Zone! I want sleep

If you have read my other blogs you will know that I mentioned, that being in the 'Orange Zone', was like a safe zone for us as it enable me to to prepare for the battle ahead, and to learn from other peoples experiences and see what else the factions would unearth etc.

Some more pics of under the house, no mans land

Orange Zone Under the house

Damn, I often tell myself I gotta stop taking pics of under the house. Now I have a couple more broken foundation vents, I get to stick my hand in more cracks with the camera. If I cant talk myself out of it, nobody can. I have thought of ways to go under there but it is the worst thought and makes me shudder. Not because of the silt and sewage and germs, but I would faint if I seen a spider. Even the thought spooks me. So I thought of maybe and astronaut suit but then if a spider was in front of my eyes Id still see it. Going in blind is just a brief stupid thought :)

January 2011, bit messy, couple of mounds and small cracks in ground but otherwise it looks pretty normal (Ignore date,it is meant to be Jan 2011)

A work mate bought in a very nice high spec camera for me to borrow for the night to get some decent pics. Brrrrr and the weather here in Christchurch is bitter, strong winds and a lot of rain, apparently the most rain for quite a while, but I still did the deed. Although the Heathcote river was in my mind, Im wondering how much the rain affected the cracks and slips and was sad when I thought about it, I love the track along the river, whats left of it.

I crouched down and put the camera through the vent thatr sits under my bedroom. Ewww it is such a different world under there. I was intrigued and disgusted at the same time when I seen the first pics of under the house. My mate got under there for me and took random pics, that was about January this year. The images dont really leave your mind for long.

Since then Ive been taking pics of under the house. And due to some EQC issues I just continued snapping away, at first, only when  we had the large quakes and good sized aftershocks....Yes I was running out often at one stage.

After Feb quake, Liquefaction mixed with sewerage

After Feb quake. Liquefaction (Named itsomething I cant repeat)

The camera I was using was awesome, and I was excited to get back to my laptop to look at them. Wow I was surprised how much distance the camera showed much more clearly than the one I use, a small cheap camera\compared to this one.

In August I noticed one of the pics had a black shape in it that was not previously there. I double checked by looking over the pics I had taken the week before. It frustrated me not knowing what it was as earlier that month. Not realising what pics I was taking, when I sat down to take a look I nearly choked on tea, and never finished it. There was a dead cat with its head hanging down a contamined hole by one of the pipes. Gave me a hell of a fright. The state of it now is indescribable. Noone wanted to get it out in the condition that it is under the house. I wanted to know what the other black thing was, as I have cats and dont want them to get sick, and is the contaminated liquefaction killing them? I still dont know. But I did get a good shot of the other black thing. Ewwww cant tell what it is, but it is hairy with long hairs. Tell me if you know what it is from the pic below

And somehow some of under there ended up flooded. Even though it was raining hard, it looks as though some of it may have come up from through the silt? I dont like the look of those cracks

Im off to upload the rest of 'Under the house' pics on my Flickr account - check it out - Ill blog it to here (Or whatever its called)
